nintendo's success
Nintendo's success in recent years has been shocking, even to me. first Its DS handheld system which released in the winter of 2004 and was a huge hit. The DS' popularity has exponentially grown every year and is expected to top 100 million units in sales. and Now with Wii which has been selling like hot cakes since its release, has surpassed xbox 360 in units sold making it the best selling new/next generation console. This is an amazing feat since Nintendo's machine released one year after xbox. This can only be explained by Nintendo's innovative controller and channel interface, advertised by a unique marketing campaign; that attracted new costumers to the video game market. Another attractive aspect of the wii is an in-game avatars that can be made to resemble yourself called a mii.
up until now, a "mii" like interface was exclusive to the wii.
but Coming this fall to the xbox 360, Avatars! and a new "Channel" based dashboard.
My first reaction to this announcement was "RIP-OFF!!!!". But now having cooled down and realizing that I have my feet in both camps, (I own a xbox 360 as well as a Wii) I am looking forward to see how Microsoft will use the avatars on xbox 360 and especially with xbox live. When Microsoft starts to barrow Nintendo's ideas that should tell you how good those ideas are. The big question now is, will they pay off for Microsoft as they did for Nintendo?

An interesting write up to bring non-users, like me, up-to-date. I've played games on a Wii so I'm not totally ignorant of its qualities. Microsoft is a past master at garnering other's ideas, or buying companies outright to get what they want. A fine post!
I disgree, I dont like how they copy them nbut it might be nceause i love nintendo so much.
What do you thinkk of the new interface, other people i talk to dont like how they have copied so many aspects from Sony's Home , Apples flawless look, and nintendo's cartoony "avatars". But what do you think?
Thanks for all the comments on my blog :-) !
